Hair styles in Ancient Egypt are very similar to today! Girls usually kept their hair in pigtails, boys had shaved heads, women & men usually wore wigs. Wigs were stored on a stand inside the house.
Cosmetics
To the Egyptians, it was important to keep clean, most people had a bath daily in a river or in a water basin at home. Ancient Egyptians put perfumed iol on themselves daily. Perfumed oil was used to stop skin drying out in the hot weather.Children, men and women of all ages work make up. Eye make up was made from lead ore, which is poisonous and can cause death. Red ochre was mixed with water to be used on the cheeks and lips. Women used make up boxes all the time, they used to take them everywhere including parties.
Jewellery
Everyone in Ancient Egypt work jewellery. Amulets and rings were used to ward off evil spirits in Egypt so no one would come to any harm. The rich wore jewellery such as pendants and beaded necklaces made from gold, silver, bronze or precious stones. The most common jewellery were earrings, armlets, bracelets and anklets.
Clothing
Men wore a short skirt called a kilt. Women work a long dress held up by straps. When working, women wore a short skirt while men work a long cloth. In summer children ran around nude but in winter they would be dressed in long cloaks. Clothing styles were made for comfort not fashion.
Housing
People had furniture consisting mostly of stools, chests for clothing, pottery jars, oil lamps and small boxes for jewellery or cosmetics, People had to up mats on their windows so that it would keep out annoying and disgusting bugs, the heat and the dust. In summer when it got hot people would sleep on their roofs to keep cool as it was very hot inside their homes because of some the materials used to build their homes such as mud bricks.

Rich Egyptians from entertainment held wild parties with heaps of food, beer and wine. For entertainment the Egyptians also used to hunt crocodiles, hippopotamuses, foxes and hyenas. As you can see entertainment is a lot like it is today, except for hunting hippopotamuses and hyenas!!
